A Guide to Wine Tasting

1. It is advisable to taste white and rose (blush) wines first. Start with drier varieties and be certain to enjoy some cheese or bread between wines to clear your palate.
2. Ask for a taste of any wine first, be certain it is enjoyable for you. If it is pleasing, you can request another taste, just ask.
3. To analyze wine, we recommend the following steps:
4. Swirl the wine in the glass to release its bouquet and aromas.
5. Smell the wine by inhaling its aromas to identify familiar varietal components and character.
6. Sip the wine, roll it from side to side in your mouth to expose the wine to each different area of your taste buds.
7. Spit or swallow, your preference, to allow the flavors of the wine to wash over your palate and savor the aftertaste.
8. Water is available at each of the tasting tables for your convenience. Please feel free to rinse your glass between tastings.
9. Pace yourself! We want everyone to enjoy the event.
