Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my child have to live in Portage County to become a member?

No, any youth, from 1st-12th grade, can become a member of the Boys & Girls Club of Portage County. We ask all families to comply with our membership boundaries to best determine what Club site they should attend.

How do I sign up my child to become a Boys & Girls Club member?

To become a Club member please complete an online membership by visiting www.bgclubpc.org/members. Once completed all new families are asked to attend a new Family Orientation, which takes place monthly at each of our Club sites.

Why does the Boys & Girls Club close before summer and fall sessions?

The staff use the time that we are closed for site maintenance and staff training (much like the schools do) to prepare for the upcoming summer or school sessions.

If I attended a New Family Orientation last year, do I need to attend one this year?

No, you only have to attend one New Family Orientation. If your child moves to our Teen Center or changes Club site locations we strongly encourage you to attend a New Family Orientation.

Who can participate in the Tooth Brushing Program?

Every Club member can participate in our Tooth Brushing program, even if they have dental insurance. Club members in the program have the opportunity to brush their teeth after dinner each evening or after breakfast in the summer.

What is the mode of transportation from Roosevelt Elementary School?

We have a walking/shuttle bus program from Roosevelt Elementary. There is a $20/family suggested donation due at the beginning of each month we transport children.
