Job Center for Teens


The Boys & Girls Club of Portage County is developing the Job Center for Teens to help teens identify job opportunities in the community, develop skills to get & succeed at jobs, discover helpful resources, and connect with local employers.


YouthForce staff provide on-going workforce readiness programming to teens at the Teen Center plus offer opportunities to connect teens with employers and educational institutions through presentations, field trips, job shadowing, and other unique opportunities.

MSTC Cougar Pathways Field Trips


Exploring a wide range of career clusters and education pathways is the best way to find your perfect career. Are you ready to start your journey?


The Cougar Pathways field trip series will provide Boys & Girls Club - Teen Center members in grades 7-12 the opportunity to explore several programs offered through MSTC and participate in related hands-on activities.

Visit & tour 3 MSTC Campus locations - Stevens Point Campus, AMETA Center, and Wisconsin Rapids Campus

Field Trip Series Sessions

Each Session will be from about 3:45-5:30pm (except April 28th may be longer due to travel time)

January 6th: Tour of AMETA Center & Manufacturing/Engineering/Tech/Apprenticeship Program

March 3rd: Hospitality & Tourism

April 4th: Education & Leadership

April 28th: Graduation Celebration! at the MSTC Wisconsin Rapids Campus


Participants are now able to attend just the sessions they are available for or interested in, but are encouraged to attend as many as possible to take advantage of the cool opportunity!

DEADLINE: Extended - participants can now register any time and attend just the sessions that they are able to or interested in. 


LOCATION: Participants will start and end their Field Trips at the Boys & Girls Club of Portage County - GPS Center (931 Michigan Ave.; Stevens Point, WI 54481). BGC staff will transport participants to the MSTC campuses, then return by 5:30 (except last session may be 6:00pm).


COST: Cougar Pathways is FREE for Boys & Girls Club of Portage County Club members!


Safe Sitter Essentials with CPR Certification Course


The Boys & Girls Club of Portage County's YouthForce is offering a one-day babysitting course to earn your certification for Safe Sitter Essentials with CPR. 


The Safe Sitter Essentials with CPR course is designed to prepare students in grades 6-8 to be safe when they are home alone, watching younger siblings, and babysitting outside of the home.


This instructor-led course is filled with fun games, role-playing exercises, suggestions for starting a babysitting business, interacting professionally with clients/parents, and lots of helpful tips for being a terrific babysitter. 


Please note that this course is for Safe Sitter Certification for babysitting and includes basic instruction for CPR techniques, but is not a CPR Certification. A separate CPR Certification course is needed to be officially CPR Certified.


UPS Road Code Certification Course

The Boys & Girls Club of Portage County's YouthForce is offering a free course for teens to earn a UPS Road Code Certification.


This FREE national program educates teens about safe driving techniques based on training UPS provides its own drivers, who are among the safest drivers worldwide.


The program focuses on different safety principles, from basic instruction to the consequences of risky behaviors such as talking on cell phones, texting or drinking while driving. The program's interactive driving simulation challenges teens' safe driving knowledge by using virtual reality headsets featuring interactive animation, voice commands and a variety of driving environments. Work Permits Now Issued Through DWD Website

As of June 30, 2023, minor employees ages 14-15 must now apply for a Work Permit through the DWD website
