She currently does so as an equity, diversity, and inclusion program specialist for the Stevens Point Public School District.

About the Session:

Sarah Nemecek is the Director of Child Safety & Quality Assurance for the Midwest Region. Previously, she was Senior Operations Manager for the Youth Safety and Violence Prevention (YSVP) program at the YMCA of Metro Chicago. In her role at the YMCA, she oversaw a team of outreach workers who provided daily mentoring and group activities for 13 to 18-year olds affected by community violence in Chicago. As part of that role, Sarah developed safety protocols and delivered trainings on topics such as risk management, trauma-informed care, restorative justice, and child abuse prevention. 


Prior to joining the YMCA of Metro Chicago, Sarah worked in management roles for a variety of nonprofits focused on topics such as public transit, affordable housing, and sustainable development. Sarah also previously worked as a Project Manager at the State of Illinois Department of Human Services (DHS), where she was responsible for building a governance model for the state’s seven health and human service agencies.  


She holds a Masters of Science Degree in Regional and Urban Planning Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and a Bachelors Degree in History and Philosophy from Pepperdine University. Sarah is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Associate Board for Connections for Abused Women and their Children (CAWC), Chicago’s oldest domestic violence agency. Sarah is based in the Chicago metropolitan area.

About the Session:

In this session leaders from the Boys & Girls Club of the Tri-County Area and Boys & Girls Club of Portage County will share their experience building sustainable growth in the most, high-need, rural areas of their communities.  Club leaders will discuss concepts, strategies and considerations of their process and how they were, ultimately, successful in expanding into rural communities by leveraging local partners, sourcing the funds, and creating a sustainable operation and innovative programming model to support some of our neediest areas.

About  Ann

Ann has been around the nonprofit world in western Wisconsin for almost 25 years and has served as CEO for the Boys & Girls of the Greater Chippewa Valley for the past three years.  


Her professional involvement in community engagement started as a family-community-school partnership liaison for the Altoona School District. In 2002 Ann became the Executive Director for Family Resource Center for Eau Claire County and in 2006 joined HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital as Director of Philanthropy. In 2019 she established AMK Nonprofit Coaching as a platform for supporting organizations through training, facilitation, and coaching. Ann’s community involvement includes being a member of Clear Water Kiwanis for almost ten years, where she’s served in leadership positions. She serves on the boards for Joshua’s Camp and Family Resource Center and supports the Eau Claire Community Foundation’s Women’s Giving Circle in leadership positions.  


Ann and her husband Rick hail from the Glenwood City area, and have four grown children, two granddaughters, 3 grand-puppies, and 2 grand-cats.  She is an alumnus of UW Eau Claire and UW River Falls, with a degree in Accounting.
