Why Marshfield Needs a BGC

Addressing Gaps in Afterschool & Summer Programs

While Marshfield is fortunate to have organizations dedicated to serving youth, there are not enough resources to meet the growing needs of all children and teens in the community. In fact, 71% of childcare programs in Wood County have a waitlist, highlighting the need for additional options.

The Boys & Girls Club will help fill this gap by offering high-quality, affordable afterschool and summer programs, providing another trusted space where youth can thrive and parents can feel confident their children are supported.

Building Community &

Workforce Connections

Through programs focused on leadership, career exploration, and personal development, the Club will prepare Marshfield’s youth for success in school, work, and life. These initiatives will equip future generations with skills while strengthening the local workforce by giving parents a trusted after school and summer option where their children are safe and engaged.

For business owners, supporting the Boys & Girls Club means fostering a stronger talent pipeline, improving employee focus, and enhancing productivity as parents gain peace of mind.

Creating Safe &

Positive Environments

At its core, the Boys & Girls Club is a safe place where young people feel valued and supported. By providing consistent mentorship, guidance, and encouragement, the Club will help Marshfield’s children and teens build confidence and resilience.

With rising concerns about school violence and bullying, as highlighted in YRBS data, there is an increasing demand for safe, positive spaces where youth can thrive. The Club will meet this need by fostering emotional and social growth and creating a strong sense of belonging and well-being.

Our Ultimate Goal

To Open a Stand Alone Center for all Marshfield Youth

Our Commitment

Community-Driven Mission

Community conversations highlighted the need for structured, supervised programs for school-aged children and teens in Marshfield. Families seek a trusted resource for safety, growth, and fun.

Our Advisory Board, alongside local businesses, schools, and families, is committed to establishing a sustainable Boys & Girls Club to equip youth with essential skills for success.

Immediate Impact

In partnership with the School District of Marshfield, the Boys & Girls Club will open its first school-based site this summer at Grant Elementary School. Designed for elementary students, this safe, supportive space will offer enriching programs, skill-building, and meaningful relationships after summer school.

This launch marks the first step in the Club’s long-term commitment to serving the community.

Long-Term Impact

Our ultimate goal is to open a stand-alone Boys & Girls Club in Marshfield, providing programs for all ages, including academics, sports, arts, leadership, and wellness.

This facility will be a safe, fun space where all youth can access transformative programs that inspire them to reach their full potential.
