Stateline Boys & Girls Club Career Tek Program
9:30-10:40 AM
About the Session:
Workforce Development can look different in every community and every Club. Hear from Stateline Boys & Girls Club on how they chose to develop their Hendricks CareerTek program in 2017 to serve three core areas in their community: healthcare, advanced manufacturing, and the trades. To meet the current and future workforce needs in their community, they have transformed their traditional BGC programming to out-of-the-box career and college readiness with hands-on exploration via summer academies and after-school programs for youth in grades 6 through 12.

Finding the Fit - Strengthening our Approach to Mental Health
1:30-2:40 PM
About the Topic:
Growing up has always been hard, but it’s harder today. Even prior to Covid-19, mental health concerns for youth and adolescents were on the rise. Add to that the multiple stressors of a global pandemic, civil unrest, racial injustice, school shootings, increased violence, and our 24-hour, non-stop social media culture, and it’s clear to see why our kids are facing a mental health crisis.
We see it every day in our Clubs. Little things now bring big emotions. We must go deeper than ever to ensure youth have access to the mental health services and support they need to thrive. But determining what is needed, feasible, and sustainable for your Club can be a real challenge. There is not a one-size-fits-all approach in integrating mental health services in Clubs. Our needs are as unique as the communities we serve. In this session, we will review the benefits and challenges of implementing a variety of mental health supports in your organization. We will share our journey at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Green Bay and discuss ways to help you identify the best fit for your Club.

Creating Trauma-Informed Care Environments in OST
2:50-4:00 PM
About the Topic
The last few years have been challenging for all of us, youth and adults alike. Many adults are tired and burned out – many youth are overwhelmed and exhibiting challenging behaviors as we transition into a new normal. While experts debate whether or not we have experienced a collective trauma over the last couple of years - one thing is clear - we all need a little extra care and support. In this session we will review some of the basic concepts around trauma and shift our lens to look at Trauma Informed Care as a way to create a safe and supportive environment for youth. Takeaways will include an understanding of the Trauma Informed Care Principles and how they can be applied to OST settings.
