Workforce Development

YouthForce programs help Portage County teens and youth explore potential careers and post-secondary education options, obtain their first job, and develop skills necessary to succeed in the 21st century workplace. 

Job & Career Readiness

The Boys & Girls Club of Portage County offers workforce readiness activities for members ages 6-18 at all of our Club sites.

Work-Based Learning

Our work-based learning program, Junior Staff, provides paid on-the-job-training and real world work experiences for teens ages 14-15+. Junior Staff assist Program Leaders in providing fun activities to youth at the Club.


Junior Staff help keep the Club safe, clean, and organized. They also get on-going professional development training to help them gain employability and life skills that will help them throughout their lives.

Job Center for Teens

The Boys & Girls Club of Portage County is developing the Job Center for Teens to help teens identify job opportunities in the community, develop skills to get & succeed at jobs, discover helpful resources, and connect with local employers.

College Readiness

With so many education and training options available after high school, it is important to start thinking about, deciding, and preparing as early as possible. Fortunately there are many resources available to help students, and families, find and prepare for the best post-secondary option for them. The Boys & Girls Club of Portage County – YouthForce can help too!

Job Fair & Career Showcase

The Boys & Girls Club of Portage County is excited to be hosting another job fair and career showcase for local teens. The job fair provides teens with the opportunity to meet with a variety of employers throughout Portage County, do on-the-spot interviews for summer postions, and receive educational and career materials.


The Job Fair will take place Wednesday, May 1st, 2024 at the BGC - Berard Center. This event is free and open to all local teens.
