Workforce Readiness Programming

The Boys & Girls Club of Portage County offers workforce readiness activities for members ages 6-18 at all of our Club sites. Some of our programs include:

  • YouthForce program activities -  staff strive to develop and deliver engaging, educational, and most importantly, FUN program activities for members that will help them succeed at school now & work later. Hands-on, minds-on activities include hard skills, soft skills, career exploration, and more!

  • Guest Presentations & Field Trips – interacting with employers and post-secondary education institutions increases Club members understanding of career and education opportunities in our community while also enabling those employers/institutions to engage potential future employees and students.

  • Career Launch – a robust workforce readiness curriculum developed by experts at the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Participants explore potential career options, identify their personal job-related skills & interests, and gain practical knowledge (e.g., completing job applications, writing cover letters, time management, and more) that will help them throughout their lives.

  • Transfr virtual reality simulations – TransfrVR is a leading developer of virtual reality (VR) workforce readiness simulations. Using specially programmed Oculus VR headsets and controllers, participants ages 12-18+ get to learn and practice job skills in a safe, accessible, and engaging format. There are 25+ VR modules for participants to explore – earning medals for completing each module. To learn more about Transfr(R) click here.
