Puppeteers in grades 1 to 3 will make an assortment of puppets, including scarf marionettes and sock puppets, and develop a performance to take to the River View theater!

Create Muppet-style puppets and learn to make them talk and sing! The workshop will culminate with a puppet/open mic, where puppets will be encouraged to tell jokes, stories or sing songs. Several group numbers will be rehearsed for final community performance.

Puppetry brings the magic of theater, helping us to discover and understand our relationship though our world and with others. Puppetry is a powerful, life-changing experience for all ages that offers a doorway to new-found confidence and provides a creative way to share.

Pam Corcoran is a puppeteer who enjoys telling stories. Her goal is for participants to find new ways to share their unique exploration through written word, either their own, or by of others. Pam has shared her love for Puppetry through Arts for All, Wisconsin for over 25 years. She was first inspired to be a puppeteer from a course she took at University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and her most recent work is inspired from a workshop attended in Prague (2019) that focused on building and performing with Czech rod marionettes.

Artist Statement:

“In selecting materials for my own shows, I am always seeking to change the world in small ways. If someone is more likely to choose to be kind, chooses to protect our beautiful planet, and considers the needs of others before their own wants, I have been successful.”
