Passport to Paradise 2022

Mission Accomplished: Hacker Caught & $40,000 Raised

Feb 03, 2022

For the last 20 years, Stevens Point Area YMCA and the Boys & Girls Club of Portage County have come together to host the “Passport to Paradise.” The Passport to Paradise is a fun-filled family event done each year to raise funds to benefit the youth and community of Portage County.

This year’s Passport to Paradise: Catch Meme If You Can, presented by Sentry, was a family-friendly virtual escape room and a scavenger hunt. As a hacker was discovered stealing people’s embarrassing photos and turning them into memes, families raced against the clock to solve puzzles, find clues, and escape before becoming the next meme victim.

Attendees also received a special Escape Room Grab ‘n’ Go Kit, including two Portesi Pizzas, Point Root Beer, a Tactical Escape 101 coupon, blacklight pens, mystery notepads, mustaches, magnifying glasses, and more!

Participants were also encouraged to share a picture of their families playing the game or enjoying the goodie bag for a chance to win a $200 Gift Certificate provided by Tactical Escape 101 in Stevens Point. Congrats to our winners, the Richter family!

Thanks to generous event sponsors such as Sentry, NRG Media, Marshfield Clinic Health System, and many more sponsors and attendees, over $40,000 was raised to continue providing programs for youth in Portage County that will help them reach their full potential.

Stay tuned to find out what next year’s Passport to Paradise will be, and make sure to join in on the fun!
