2022 Pedal Point Rally Raises Funds for Boys & Girls Club

Jul 27, 2022

Stevens Point, WI - On Saturday, July 16th, 2022, the Hostel Shoppe hosted the Pedal Point Rally to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Portage County. Over 230 participants joined either virtually during the month of June biking as many miles as they could or in-person Saturday, July 16th, completing a ride of choice (60, 40, 20, 13, or 4 miles). New to this year’s event was an ice cream ride on Friday, July 15th, where riders biked to local ice cream shops and even received a Belts’ Buck to use.

Pedal Point Rally is a community effort. It takes passionate participants, dedicated volunteers, and kind-hearted sponsors, including Len Dudas Motors, News Channel 7, NRG Media and many others to raise over $29,000 to continue doing whatever it takes to serve all youth at 10 Boys & Girls Club sites throughout Portage County this summer.

Participants at the rally rode their bikes throughout beautiful Eastern Portage County and made their way back to the Hostel Shoppe for lunch and the awards ceremony. Prizes were given to individuals and teams who biked the most miles and raised the most funds. Dan Kwiatkowski (adult) biked over 2,200 miles, and Ty Portzen (child) biked over 1,300 miles in the month of June to win the Dedicated Cyclists award. Raymond Fonck (adult) raised over $1,000, and Jaysa Zeinert (child) raised over $500 to win the BGC Backer award. The team “2 Bents with a Wedgie” won both team awards for biking the most miles and raising the most funds to support the Boys & Girls Club.

The Hostel Shoppe generously donated a youth bike which was given away to one lucky winner. ICE Trikes also generously donated a recumbent bike to be auctioned off as part of the event.

The Boys & Girls Club offers a variety of programming to ensure all children’s interests are being met. The funds raised at this event will support programs like Healthy Habits, which teaches children how to make delicious meals that are nutritious as well, Homework Help, a program designed to support youth through their studies, and Triple Play, a gym-like program that keeps our youth active and sparks interest in team and recreational sports.
