7 Ways to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

Mar 15, 2022

We feel so lucky to be celebrating St. Patrick's Day at the Club. Here are some ways you can celebrate St. Patrick's Day at home. Get your Irish on, and let the shenanigans begin!

1. Add Some Greens to Your Meals
Bring some festivity to your meals with green food coloring. Add a bit of food coloring to your meal to give your feast a tiny pinch of that Irish green! Dyeing light-colored foods create a brighter pigment of green but don’t be afraid to get messy and try testing your skills by dyeing darker foods.

2. Hunt For Gold
It seems like we are always hunting for gold, so why not make a game out of it! Gather up some chocolate coins (or real coins if you’re feeling adventurous) and hide them around the house for the children to seek out! For even more of that Irish flare, put a rainbow above that pot o’ gold as a signal for the end of the hunt!

3. Make an Irish Meal
Are you looking to make Saint Patrick’s Day more authentic? Try cooking an Irish meal for the family. From a traditional beef stew to a delicious potato boxty, many delicious recipes are out there to capture the Irish spirit!

4. Catch a Leprechaun!
Have you ever wanted to see a Leprechaun? Now is your chance! Create a leprechaun trap to lure in those mischievous rascals and find out what they’re like. But be careful; they are quick buggers and are good at finding their way out.

5. Make Irish Soda Bread
Originating in 1800’s Ireland, Irish Soda Bread is a traditional bread that is quick and delicious! Irish soda bread is a fast and excellent way to get the children into the Irish spirit with just a few simple ingredients.

6. Grow Shamrocks
Looking for a new annual St. Patty’s Day tradition? Planting shamrocks around your house or in your home is the perfect way to show your festivity. These easy-to-grow plants do great with indoor temperatures and bring a bit of luck to your home!

7. Learn an Irish Dance
Another fun way to celebrate Irish culture is to learn some Irish dancing! With online videos and virtual classes available, learning how to do a traditional Irish dance is just at the wee tips of our fingers.

From everyone here at the Boys & Girls Club, we hope you have a lucky & fun St. Patrick’s Day!
