Boys & Girls Club Plans to Honor Noels
“Stevens Point- The Boys & Girls Club of Portage County plans to recognize the contributions of local philanthropists John and Patricia Noel by naming its gym in their honor.

The organization in April broke ground on a new youth center on Sims Avenue and has been raising money this year for the new building and to make improvements at its other facilities around Portage County.

The city took steps this week toward giving the Boys & Girls Club of Portage County approval to honor a “major donation” by the Noels’ to the campaign by formally dedicating and naming the gym “The John & Patty Noel Gymnasium.”

The city owns the gym but is sharing it with the organization as the Club builds its new facility nearby.

The Noels’ donation will fund several opportunities for the club, including updated heating and air-conditioning systems, ceiling repairs, improved safety and security, and additional programming, according to city documents.

Club director Kevin Quevillon said he appreciates all of the donors who have made the project possible.

“We wouldn’t be where we’re at, we wouldn’t be building, if it wasn’t for all of these folks,” he said.

The club anticipates its new facility will be complete in early November according to a release. It wants to raise about $200,000 more for its campaign, which seeks to raise a total of $4.2 million, according to its website.

The club will display the names of donors who contribute at least $1,000 on a permanent donor wall in both the new Stevens Point Clubhouse and the Plover Clubhouse. Donors can contribute online at www.newdoorsgreatfutures.org.

The decision requires approval of the full City Council, which is scheduled to meet July 20.”

The Boys & Girls Club would love to thank John and Patricia Noel for everything they have done to help the Club. We would also love to thank all of our other donors who have donated to Portage County youth; none of this would have been possible without you.
