Hello, my name is Jill Literski. I have worked professionally as a Science/English teacher both in the classroom and online. My art journey started a few years ago when I found I needed somewhere to go within myself so that I could be my authentic being.  At the time, I had my lovely companion, "Brandy", with me.  She howled and I sang. Together, we discovered poetry, movement, meditation, music, and art.  I had always been a lover of nature and the great outdoors (of course, Brandy is too).  But now we had begun to see the world differently, to actually feel it.  We need art to express and to share it with others. I am excited to have the opportunity to work with you on your journey through art as well.

Learn a Fun Dance

Zemer Atik, which means "old melody", was created in 1955 by an Istaeli choreographer, Rivka Shturman. It is based on a Yiddish folk song. As is common with folk dances, dances are playful and fun for all ages to participate. The Zemer Atik, is a familiar dance that is danced to celebrate at a Jewish wedding by all ages. BGC members who participate will perform their dance at the Portage County Cultural Festival on Saturday, May 11th at SPASH.

Bonnie Beverstock has danced folk dance for over twenty years. Dance forms Bonnie has danced include:  Israeli, Greek, Armenian, Serbian, Romanian and Macedonian dances. Bonnie initially was a member of a dance group traveled and taught folk dance in various places around the country.  In central Wisconsin, she has participated in the Fox Valley Folk Dance Event featuring Balkan throughout the day followed by performances in the evening. Bonnie also has participated in the folk-dance group in Stevens Point that took place many years ago.
